Desert Institute education programs in Joshua Tree National Park

Our 4% donations to Joshua Tree National Park Association to help fund their Desert Institute education programs.

The Desert Institute is the educational arm of the Joshua Tree National Park Association, established in 1999, that partners closely with the National Park Service to bring immersive learning experiences to visitors.

Through a seasonal catalog of field classes, workshops, guided adventures, and social events, the Institute offers topics spanning natural science (such as geology, botany, and birding), cultural history, recreation, and the arts.

Courses generally run one to three days and are taught by expert instructors, engaging participants in hands-on exploration of Joshua Tree’s desert environments and surrounding landscapes.

The program’s mission is to deepen public understanding of the desert’s ecological and cultural significance, foster stewardship, and provide educational opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds.
