Our 4% donations to Canyonlands Natural History Association is helping fund phase II of the Bears Ears Digital Cultural Heritage Initiative.
Bears Ears National Monument is a protected landscape in southeastern Utah known for its dramatic red rock canyons, mesas, and thousands of cultural and archaeological sites that hold deep significance for Indigenous peoples.
Bears Ears Digital Cultural Heritage Initiative Phase II (BEDCHI Phase II) isΒ a collaborative project involving Indigenous communities (notably the Navajo Nation Historic Preservation Department and the Zuni Cultural Resource Advisory Team), anthropologists/archaeologists, and federal land-managers (Bureau of Land Management & U.S. Forest Service) focused on the landscape of Bears Ears National Monument in southeastern Utah.
This cutting-edge heritage-documentation initiative aims to preserve and share Indigenous cultural landscapes, enhance public engagement, and support the conservation of those landscapes for future generations.
