Empowering the Future of Public Lands

Our 4% initiative contributed to finding the next generation of leaders in our public lands through job training and internships with the Zion Forever Project.

Finding qualified staff for our public lands is a challenge, but through our partnership with the Intergovernmental Internship Cooperative (IIC), we are making a difference. This program, led by Southern Utah University and the Zion Forever Project, offers internships that equip young people with the skills and experience needed to contribute to the stewardship of our public lands.

By supporting internships across Zion, Cedar Breaks, and Pipe Spring, we help shape the next generation of public land stewards. These opportunities not only foster personal growth but also enhance the work of Rangers and park scientists. Abi Farish, a graduate of the IIC program and now a Visual Information Specialist in Zion, reflects: “IIC played a significant role in getting me where I am today.”

With your continued support, we can sustain the IIC’s legacy and provide future generations with the chance to protect and preserve our public lands.
