Funding Education Programs & Accessibility in Florida National Parks

The mission of The Florida National Parks Association is to increase access to the South Florida National Parks, reduce barriers and reach even more people.

Through our 4% donations, the FNPA is supporting underfunded local communities by creating programs and experiences that teach them how to enjoy and explore their nearby national parks.

The FNPA believes that introducing people to their local parks; while also guiding them through the many ways one can enjoy these spaces, allows for a deeper sense of connection to form, and grants them to tools they need to forge a long-term relationship with these protected areas.

The FNPA has successfully implemented this idea in the past. In July of 2023, they took members of the Mexican American Council, along with local high schoolers, out on a wet walk through the Everglades! With a record of over 40 years of service in the community, the Mexican American Council is a well-respected advocate of community issues and an agent of positive change for promoting cultural and civic engagement.

The event not only immersed the participants in a cypress dome, which seems scary and taboo to those not familiar with the environment but also allowed those participants to engage with National Park Service staff and listen to them speak on conservation efforts and career opportunities.
