Our 4% donations went funding Discover Your Northwest’s improvements at the Ballard Locks fish ladder viewing gallery
The Hiram Chittenden Locks (AKA Ballard Locks) are a vital piece of infrastructure located in Seattle, Washington. Operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the locks connect the saltwater Puget Sound to the freshwater Lake Union and Lake Washington, facilitating the movement of boats while maintaining the different water levels of these bodies.
Currently, Discover Your Northwest is working on Phase II of a three-pronged initiative of holistic improvements at the fish ladder viewing gallery.
The project started with public infrastructure in the viewing gallery where seating, accessibility, and acoustics were overhauled. Currently they are nearing the installation phase for new interpretive panels for this ongoing project.
