Did you know that are 158,000 miles of trails within our National Forests and Grasslands? In fact, it's the largest trail network in the country and perhaps the world. With it comes an unending laundry list of maintenance with limited resources (particularly considering the majority of the Forest Service's budget continues to be strained by fighting wildfires). In 2018, Wild Tribute's 4 the Forests donations (read more about 4 the Forests focus here) contributed to The National Forest Foundation's ("NFF") Summer of Trails Campaign.
The National Forest Foundation's goal is to split all funds raised evenly amongst nine Forest Service Regions and issue grants to the most competitive proposals that address critical trail maintenance needs in each of the regions. Grants will begin to be issued in 2019.
